Many New Testament scholars believe Ephesians is a pseudonymous letter, one written in the name of Paul by one of his disciples, followers, or imitators. Some scholars also believe Colossians is pseudonymous. For more information about New Testament pseudepigrapha, read D.A. Carson, “Pseudonymity and Pseudepigraphy,” Dictionary of New Testament Background: A Compendium of Contemporary Biblical Scholarship, eds. Stanley E. Porter and Craig A. Evans (Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2000), 857–64.
Translating the dangling participle in Ephesians 2:1–3 is difficult, as Bill Mounce explains in “Anacoluthon and Using Greek Tools (Eph 2:1),” BillMounce.com (blog), 22 May 2011.
