The Great Isaiah Scroll is one of the first of the Dead Sea Scrolls discovered in 1947 and is the oldest existing copy of Isaiah. Read more about it and see images of this magnificent text at the website of the Shrine of the Book museum.
The Ascension of Isaiah, an apocryphal Christian work written between the late first and early second century ʙ.ᴄ., is the source of the tradition that Isaiah died a martyr by being sawn in two by wicked King Manesseh of Judah. (See Ascension 5:1–14; cf. Hebrews 11:37.)
