The Ascension of Isaiah, an apocryphal Christian work written between the late first and early second century ʙ.ᴄ., is the source of the tradition that Isaiah died a martyr by being sawn in two by wicked King Manesseh of Judah. (See Ascension 5:1–14; cf. Hebrews 11:37.)
